Duration

PG Passed

Talking about the duration depends upon the course you are choosing like duration of BLIS is- It has a minimum of 1 year and a maximum 2-year duration. MLIS- Minimum of 1 year and maximum it can go to 2 years. certificate in library and information sciences- Minimum duration is 6 months and maximum it can go up to 2 years. Pg diploma in library automation and networking- It has a duration of minimum of 1 year and maximum it can go up to 2 years.

Admission Procedure 2024

Fee Structure

Fee also depends upon the course you choose, see the fee structure below :-
BLIS- total course fee is Rs. 8,300.
MLIS- Total course fee is Rs. 11,100
PG Diploma in library and information sciences-The total cost for the entire program is Rs. 18,000, and there's an additional registration fee of Rs. 300.
Certificate in library and information sciences- The total cost of the program is Rs. 3,000.

Eligibility

One should always check the eligibility before applying to the courses-see the content below to check if you are eligible to pursue the course or not? BLIS- To join the BLIS program, students need to have a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks and must have also passed a diploma in library science from a central or state university. MLIS-BLIS or equivalent degree is required to join the program. Certificate in library and information sciences- You can apply if you've passed 10+2 or completed the BPP program from IGNOU. Pg diploma in library automation and networking- It is mandatory to have a Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information Science.

Assignments

For students, submitting assignments is a crucial step. You need to submit your assignments as it's a necessary requirement for the TEE Exam. These assignments are essential because they count for 30% of your final marks in the course.Assignments serve as a way to learn and engage with the course material. They also help you become eligible for the term-end examination. So, make sure to submit all your mandatory subject assignments before the deadline to ensure your progress in the program.

Examination

Continuous Evaluation (CE)- This counts for 30% of your total marks. It involves assignments that you must submit before you can take the Term End Examination (TEE). Each course has one assignment, except for BLIE-227, which is practical only. BLI-224, BLIE-228, and BLIE-229 also have a practical component. To pass the assignments, you need to score a minimum of 40%.
Term End Examination (TEE)- This makes up the remaining 70% of your marks. It's the final exam you give after completing the assignments. Your performance in this exam, combined with your assignment scores, determines your overall result. The evaluation of your performance in CE is done by the counselors, who will award marks accordingly.

Evaluation

The Term End Examinations for all the BLIS courses happen twice a year, in June and December. But you can only take the Term end examination after being registered in the program for at least one year. To earn a Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information Science, you must score a minimum of 40% marks in both the continuous evaluation and the Term End Examination for each course.
The TEE is typically a written theoretical exam. However, for Document Processing and Organisation: Practice, it's a written exam as well. Additionally, for BLI-224 and BLIE-229, there is a practical exam that you'll complete on computers. Your Study Centre will provide guidance for this.Information Products and Services does not have a separate TEE for practicals.
